Ordering Plugs - I've started ordering some flowers in plug form from Farmer Bailey and Farmer Bailey Perennials, to take the pressure off starting so many plants from seed. But you see what a cool climate will get you in terms of sweet peas. Another little trick I've learned, don't put your plug tray on the ground when it arrives. These are probably best in tunnels. They talk your language, so I'm going to share those results real quick. We'll see if that make any difference. AS: OK, I've got two more and then I'm gonna pass it off to see if anybody else saw some that I missed. Well,theirs wasn't - they didn't understand the need for these. So, two weeks. Transplant within 1 week of arrival, or bump up into 50 or 72 cell trays if immediate transplanting is not possible. So are the sweet peas. Let me get to my presentation here. That's just 12 weeks to produce a tiny littleplug and if you're giving them, you know, subpar conditions,you're looking at 14 or 16 weeks that you have to tend to this thing. ThisCeleb series from Japan. All right. We typically order about 1500-2000 lisianthus plugs each season from Gro 'n Sell. I've never personally seen it myself. If you, I mean, I know I know high tunnels are expensive, not everyone has them, but usually that's the first crop that people put in their high tunnel once they have it. That is more than sufficient. You know nitrogen produces leaves generally, and it's usually the nutrient that's in shortest supply. It alljust kind of depends on your own conditions. It's usually free or low cost. You know they will putout some roots, but if you have a place with poor drainage or they're going to be sitting in water, youre just asking for fungal problems to show up over winter. The thing is, that stuff has gone up in price300- 400%, you know. We have also succeeded with direct planting of plugs into soil. Then you're just leaving a lot of room for weed seeds to germinate.
